Pulwama: Forces lobbed tear-smoke shells to disperse students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora who held a protest against the detention of their mate.
Reports said scores of students protested on the campus demanding immediate release of Tasaduq Rashid Bhat.
Reports added that students hurled stones of deployed forces who retaliated with tear-smoke shells.
Students had protested against the detention of Mechanical Engineering student Tasaduq Rashid on Saturday as well. Tasaduk along with his father were detained in a raid and lodged at police station Awantipora. A police official said that Tasaduq was the brain behind the recent clashes that erupted in Campus against civilian killings.
Witnesses said that as the University opened on Monday, students assembled at Campus, and raised slogans demanding release of Tasaduq.
The clashes between students and the Forces disrupted class work in the Varsity.
