Ashraf Mir reviews stock, supply position in Jammu

Jammu: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Mohammad Ashraf Mir Saturday reviewed the stock and supply position in Jammu province here at a meeting of senior functionaries of the department.

Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Finance, Planning, Law & Justice, Relief & Rehabilitation and Labour & Employment, Agriculture, Floriculture and Horticulture Ajay Nanda was also present in the meeting.

The Minister took a detailed review of the status of stock and supply position, allocation, lifting, distribution of essential commodities under PDS and directed the concerned authorities to put in place effective monitoring mechanism to ensure that ration distribution is further streamlined and made time bound.

The Minister was informed that 3666288.07 quintal of food grains was distributed in the financial year 2017-18 among beneficiaries in Jammu division which includes 2995818.9 quintal food grains under NFSA scheme and 670469.17 quintal under MMSFES scheme.

It was further informed that 1177720 number of ration cards were distributed among the beneficiaries, of which Aadhar seeding has been done for 718103 R- cards.

Giving further details, the meeting was informed that during 2017-18, the department provided 226871.32 Quintal   Sugar   in Jammu division.

The department also conducted 7215 market checking   and realized Rs 10.33 lakh as fine during this period.

The Minister also reviewed the action taken on the commitment made by Chief Minister during her public outreach program in Jammu division.

Later, Mohammad Ashraf Mir along with Ajay Nanda also visited Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Building at Ware House being constructed by J&K Housing Board. They went round different blocks of the newly constructed building completed at a cost of Rs. 10.33 crore. The building would be fully functional by ending December 2018, they were informed.

The Ministers also visited the Legal Metrology Department Building at Transport Nagar and inspected the facility at the working standard laboratory, secondary Standard Laboratory besides other sections of the building.

The Minister also inspected the Nagrota Godown and inquired about the available stocks of food grain.

The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, FCS&CA, Dr. Abdul Rashid, Director FCS & CA R. A. Inqlabi, Additional Secretary, Jugal Kishore Anand, Joint Director FCS & CA Pawan Sharma, Financial advisor, FCS&CA, Zia-ul-Rehman, Deputy Director planning, FCS&CA Jammu, Mohd Iqbal, Deputy Director Supplies, FCS&CA Joginder Singh Jasrotia and other senior officials of the department.
