Coalition of contradictions

Not only in Jammu and Kashmir only but in rest of the country also the general impression about the PDP-BJP coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti is that right from day one it has proved to be coalition of contradiction as the two coalition parliament PDP and BJP are pulling apart almost on every small and big issue concerning peace and increasing alienation of the people in Kashmir valley. Though Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is trying to get the leaders of her party’s ally on BJP on every peace proposal she puts in public domination but BJP for the reasons of its own political conveniences does the opposite and the response of the BJP to Chief Minister’s proposal for Ramadan cease has been received with contempt by the people in Jammu & Kashmir. Unfortunately BJP has choosen to take an escape route rather than trying find a route for public reach out for the purposes of reconciliation and peace in the Jammu & Kashmir state. The statements of BJP leaders in which they ask militants to offer a ceasefire instead of waiting for the Government of India to do are sufficient enough to indicate that they tend to find an escape route rather than trying to explore the possibilities of reach out and engagement. It has been experienced almost in all the conflict zones of the world that governments in other conflict parts of world also offer the ceasefire proposal and the opposite side either accepts or rejects the officer.

A popular government is in conflict with its own people and situation demands a positive response to the ceasefire proposal put forth by an elected chief who believes that ceasefire initiative would be tantamount to give peace a chance in Jammu & Kashmir the which has witnessed two successive bloody summers in last two years.

So keeping in view the international precedences on ceasefire initiatives the government of India commanded and controller by Prime Minister Narendra has to take the lead in offering the militants the much hyped ceasefire offer on the recommendation of the All party meeting of the mainstream political parties if it really wants to change its presently policy on anti-militancy operations in Jammu & Kashmir. The compulsion prompting almost all the mainstream political parties except BJP to support the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s ceasefire proposal are the violent clashes between the civilian population and government forces on the encounter sites resulting in civilian killings. A popular government is in conflict with its own people and situation demands a positive response to the ceasefire proposal put forth by an elected chief who believes that ceasefire initiative would be tantamount to give peace a chance in Jammu & Kashmir the which has witnessed two successive bloody summers in last two years.
