Srinagar: Minister for Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA), Mohammad Ashraf Mir Wednesday visited Food Godown, Karan Nagar to review the work and inspect quality and quantity of ration available there.

The Minister was accompanied by Secretary FCS & CA, Dr. Abdul Rashid, Director, FCS & CA (Kashmir), Nisar Ahmad Wani and other concerned officials.

While taking the firsthand stock of quality and the quantity of rice and sugar available in the godown, the Minister was informed that there is enough stock of both the products available in the godown to meet extended needs. Mir was satisfied with the quality of the rice and sugar, and cautioned the officers that no compromise should be made on the quality of food grains.

The Minister also directed for hygienic stocking of sacks to prevent decay and other losses to food grains. He said government is working tirelessly to streamline the food grain distribution network and requisite steps are being taken to ensure hassle free supply of ration to the people.

Inspecting the infrastructure of the godown, Mir observed that there is a need to develop it on the modern lines for benefit of people.

He directed the officials to carry out various infrastructural developments in the godown which includes macadamization of roads, construction of side drains, beautification of park and other works. The Minister said when the employees are given better facilities, the working automatically improves.

Mir also visited the legal section, accounts section, grievance cell and other sections and took the review of the works there. He also checked the records. While observing the need for digitization of certain sections, the Minister directed the officials to computerize certain works to bring in more efficiency.
