Srinagar/May, 7: Law enforcing authorities Monday imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar city and many other areas in Valley on to foil the protest march and a sit in outside civil secretariate called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against killing of five militants and equal number of civilians in a gunfight and post gunfight clashes respectively in Shopian district of South Kashmir on last Sunday.
As already reportedrthe Civil Secretariat that houses the offices of the Chief Minister, her colleagues and senior bureaucrats is opening on Monday after a six-month sojourn in Jammu.
Government forces on Sunday killed five militants, including an assistant professor of the Kashmir University who had joined their ranks, leading to major street protests that claimed the lives of five civilians.
Law enforcing authorities have placed Syed Ali Shah Geelani the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman and the Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq the Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman under house arrest. JKLF Chairman Yaseen Malik has been already taken into preventive detection. A complete shut down called by Joint Resistance Leadership is being observed all over valley.
All educational institutions have been shut in the valley. Exams scheduled for Monday were postponed.
Rail services were also suspended as a precautionary measure.
Mobile internet services remained suspended in all south Kashmir districts since Sunday i n addition to Srinagar and Ganderbal districts in the north of the valley.
Security have been deployed in the areas where restrictions and also at other law and order vulnerable places.
