Srinagar/May, 6: Leader of the opposition National Conference and former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said ‘the killing of Kashmir University Professor is an answer to those who claim jobs & development are the solution to the violence & alienation in Kashmir’ .
Muhammad Rafi Bhat, who taught at the sociology department of the varsity, was Sunday morning killed in a gunfight along four other militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. He was reported missing on Friday.
“Sadly this is also an answer to those who claim jobs & development are the solution to the violence & alienation in Kashmir. This is another tragic development in a steady stream of tragedies in Kashmir,” Omar wrote on micro blogging social networking website ‘ Twitter’.
During the gunfight, parents of Bhat were also called to persuade their son to surrender, but he had turned down the offer.
