Srinagar: In the ongoing first Mufti Mohammad Sayeed (MMS) Memorial Football Tournament J&K Police defeated Real Kashmir FC by two goals to nil in a match played at Synthetic Turf TRC in Srinagar on Wednesday (May 2).

In the high voltage game, the star studded teams played aggressive football from the word go which delighted the fans who had thronged the venue in huge numbers.  As the match started, forwards of both the teams started attacking other’s goalpost to seize an early initiative. However, defence lines of both the teams ensured that no damage was done.

When it looked that first half may end goalless, Gulshan Kumar of Police team broke the jinx by scoring first goal for his team in 31st minute of the match. Leading by a goal boosted the confidence of Police players and they kept defenders of opposite team under pressure. It diverted the attention of Real Kashmir players from attack to defence and in the remaining minutes of the first half no further goals were scored.

The second half also started with the two teams making all out efforts to score. The intense battle continued for most part of the second half. As Police team made more attacks on the opposite goalpost, they were successful in scoring second goal in the 53rd minute of the play through Vivek Dogra.

Trailing by two goals, the Real Kashmir players tried their best to score, but strong defence lines of Police team thwarted all their attempts. When referee blew the final whistle the score line read 2-0 in favour of Police team. Muzamil of Police team was declared as player of the match. He was awarded Rs 1000 and a memento for his brilliant performance.
