Srinagar: Senior pro-freedom leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Muslim League, Masarat Aalam was produced before the court in a case lodged against him in 2010 at Police Station Batamaloo.
He was brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu and produced before Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar, where after hearing the arguments; the judge fixed the next hearing of the said case on 18th of May 2018.
Shortly after the culmination of hearing, Aalam was sent back to Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu.
Muslim League spokesperson Sajad Ayoubi alleged that Government is mulling to book Masarat Alam again under draconian Public Safety Act while his 36th PSA is coming to end on 15th of this month.
He said Aalam has been booked in fabricated cases. “A conspiracy is being hatched to keep him behind bars. Authorities are scared of him and don’t want to free him. Government has become a butt of jokes by moving Aalam from one police station to another,” he said.
Sajad Ayoubi said that there is no justification in keeping Masarat Aalam behind the bars even after released by court. “New ways and means are being devised to harass and intimidate him, but Aalam will never succumb. Government should read writing on the wall,” he said.
