Srinagar: Ruling People’s Democratic Party leader and incumbent Vice Chairman JK Cements is likely to resign from the party.
Informed sources while disclosing this to Kashmir Horizon claimed that a number of senior leaders are unhappy with the party high command over continuing its alliance with Bhartiya Janata Party. These leaders are mulling to leave the party.
As per sources, Engineer Nazir Ahmed Yatoo, who is Vice Chairman, JK Cements has already conveyed his message to the party brass; however, party has not taken any decision yet.
Sources privy to the development said that a number party leaders have expressed dissatisfaction over the behaviour of some BJP leaders who according to them are trying to malign the image of the party in Kashmir Valley.
“We sincerely believe that BJP is making its ground stronger in Jammu while PDP is losing ground in Valley. The actions and behaviour of some BJP leaders particularly of Lal Singh in Jammu are aimed at to demean the position of our party in Kashmir,” said a party leader wishing not to be named.
Sources said that some party leaders including Engineer Nazir Ahmed Yatoo have already conveyed to PDP Vice President Sartaj Madni to ask BJP leadership to curb the anti-PDP activities of Lal Singh in Jammu. Sources added that Yatoo has expressed displeasure over the anti-Mehbooba remarks of Lal Singh.
Some party leaders believe that Lal Singh is running a campaign with the full support of BJP in Jammu. This campaign according to sources has been started by BJP not to underestimate the position of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti but also to tarnish the credibility of PDP in Kashmir Valley.
“I am telling you with authority that even some top leaders and Ministers are not happy with the alliance partner BJP. The matrimony is a compulsion,” said a leader claiming that Yatoo will be the first to resign from the party and others will follow suit.
Despite repeated attempts, Nazir Ahmed Yatoo couldn’t be contacted.
