Bandipore: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora Khursheed Ahmad Sania convened a meeting to review the pace of progress on Swatch Bharat Mission (SBM- Urban) here Friday.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee Bandipora, Executive Engineer PHE, R&B, Tehsildar Bandipora, besides President Traders Federation, Bandipora.
It was given out in the meeting that as many as 2835 applications have been received for construction of house hold latrines under SBM in Municipal Committee Bandipora, of which 1165 applications have been approved.
The meeting was further informed that 969 house hold latrines were constructed during last two months while as construction of 138 House Hold Latrines is in progress. An amount of Rs 1.18 crore is being provided to the beneficiaries as financial assistance for construction of the House Hold Latrines in the town.
Speaking on the occasion the DDC asked the concerned officers to gear-up the field functionaries and ensure that all households could construct individual latrines so that the target of declaring Bandipora as open defecation free(ODF) is achieved by June 2018.
The DDC constituted a team of officers comprising of Executive Officer, Municipal Committee and Tehsildar Bandipora to conduct a fresh survey in the town in 3 days and identify land for construction of Soakage pits and septic tanks.
The DDC also urged upon the people of Bandipora town to coordinate with district administration to achieve the target of making Bandipora Open Defecation free.
