Jammu: An auction for dry cocoons was held here Wednesday which was inaugurated by the Additional Director, Sericulture Development Department here Wednesday.
Nearly, five parties participated in the market, of which, three were from West Bengal. Besides, 106 lots of cocoons were auctioned in the market and a total of 1070-000 kg of dry cocoon worth Rs.10.87 lakh was transacted in the market on an average of Rs, 1016-00 per kg of dry cocoons. The highest bid of Rs.1226-00 was offered for cocoon lot of Ramesh Lal S/o Chuchu of village Chakkarh Jammu.
The marketing of dry cocoons will continue up to 5th May, 2018.
