Reports said hundreds of people attended the funeral prayers of slain civilians. took part in the prayers held at their native place in Old Baramulla town.
The three civilians identified as Asif Ahmad Sheikh, Haseeb Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Asghar – all residents of Kakarhamam locality of old town Baramulla were late Monday evening killed by gunmen in Khan Port area of the town.
Meanwhile Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik condemned the killing of three civilians saying shooting someone over his party or political affiliations is “inhuman and un-Islamic”. “JRL also expressed concern and condemnation over the killing of three youth from old town Baramulla,” said a statement, issued Tuesday.
The leaders said that time and again people are killed in such a manner and no one knows who kills them as the killers remain unidentified gunmen.
“While the state authorities conveniently blame armed youth the militant organisations in fact condemn the killings and many time blame state agencies. In the process the culprits never get identified,” they said. Calling the killings a matter of serious concern, JRL appealed to the UN to take note of this and set up an impartial inquiry into these killings.
“JRL reiterated that any killing on grounds of political or party affiliations is inhuman and un-Islamic and unacceptable to people and leadership of Kashmir,” said the statement.
