Award ceremony marks end of Road Safety Week in Jammu

Jammu: The 29th National Road Safety Week 2018 inaugurated by Minister for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma on April 23, 2018 from Gulshan Ground culminated with an impressive award ceremony cum valedictory function held here Tuesday at Police Auditorium.

During the week long programe a number of events were organised by Motor Vehicles Department on this year’s theme “SADAK SURKASHA-JEEVAN RAKSHA”.

The programes included Walkathon, Medical Health Check-up, Blood Donation Camp, Painting Competition at Kalakendra, Helmet Rally, Poster Design Competition at Wave Mall and Cycle Rally from the University of Jammu. 92.7 Big FM and RED FM 91.9 were the media partners in the different events organised by the department.

The valedictory function also witnessed thought provoking lectures by experts.

Dr. V.S. Santhil Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forest was the Chief Guest on at the award ceremony. The cultural programe by Ramaloo Ram, Dogri Folk Singer and party was performed on the mission of Road Safety which enthralled the audience present in the auditorium.

Folk song on Road Safety  composed by Mohinder Kumar of Information Department was performed by him along with his group. A documentary on the Road Safety produced by Maruti Driving School Jammu was also played in the programe to make people aware about the importance of Road Safety.

Earlier, Vikas Sharma, Joint Transport Commissioner welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries in the Award Ceremony.

Dr. V.S. Santhil Kumar stressed upon all to inculcate the habit of good driving skills to be secure and safe. He asked the young students and parents to take mission of Road Safety Week further and make every day as Road Safety Day. He also distributed awards in different categories among the students and other dignitaries who excelled in different events and supported the cause of Road of Safety actively.

Deep Raj, RTO Jammu presented vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Dignitaries, Teachers, Parents, Students, Automobile Dealers, Print and Electronic Media, Authorities of University of Jammu, Kala Kendra, Wave Mall, 92.7 Big FM, RED FM 91.9, Traffic Police, Police Management  for their support for holding activities during the National Road Safety Week.

The prominent  among others present in the ceremony were Mohinder Singh Additional Transport Commissioner J&K, Rakesh Sarangal Director School Education Jammu. Mir Afroz Managing Director SRTC, R.K. Bhat Additional Secretary State Road Safety Council, Naresh Kumar Joint Director Information, Dr. Chander Prakash, Deputy Director Health Services, Sunaina Mehta Secretary Municipal Corporation Jammu, ARTOs, MVI’s and other staff members.
