Police books admin of facebook news page for spreading rumours

Srinagar: Police Saturday said that it registered a formal case against the admin of a facebook news page for spreading rumours.
A spokesperson said that Srinagar police have been receiving numerous complaints against some mischief mongers who are active on Social Media spreading rumours which tarnish the credibility and reputation of people and also create law and order disturbances.
“In this regard an FIR vide number 32/2018 Under Section 505 (1) RPC was registered at Police Station Kothibagh. During the course of investigation one facebook news group QNS24x7 was identified spreading such content.
The admin of this group who hails from Gulab Bagh, Zakoora was identified,” spokesperson said.
A police officer elaborated that this facebook page was surveillance for quite some time and it repeatedly posted news reports that were far from truth.
“We appeal everyone to act sensibly when it comes to reporting. False reporting has potential to create law and order problem in Valley,” he said adding that the investigation of the case is going on.
