Rajouri: Minister for Animal & Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli, Saturday laid the foundation stone of a steel girder bridge at Dhanwan-Dalyote at Kalakote to be constructed under thePradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana scheme at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.29 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said road connectivity is key to progress and prosperity of an area and this vital sector is receiving special attention of the present dispensation in government. Referring to government initiatives with regard to the expansion of durable road network in the State, he said a number of roads have been constructed and upgraded under PMGSY, BADP, CRF among other schemes thereby ensuring road connectivity even in the remotest parts of the State.
Later, Kohli addressed a public meeting at Develian in which a large number of people from adjacent areas participated and put forth their demands for early redress. He assured them of earliest possible redress of genuine demands and concerns.
The Minister reiterated government commitment socio-economic empowerment of people across the State, adding that upliftment of common people is the main objective of the present government.
Concerned PMGSY officers and officers from district administration were present on the occasion.
