Jammu: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Saturday conducted whirlwind tour of Gandhi Nagar Constituency and took stock of various ongoing development works.
During his visit, the Speaker visited Digiana area and inspected the ongoing construction work of nallah there.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said the completion of the nallah will mitigate the problem of water logging in the areas of Digiana, Rani talab and Akali Kour Singh Nagar and more areas including Nai basti and Shastri Nagar will also be included in this Rs 5.42 cr project.
The Speaker also conducted a series of public interaction sessions where the locals projected various demands pertaining to augmentation of essential public utilities.
Redressing the issue of water supply in Digiana, the Speaker assured the residents that the matter will be taken up to the concerned authorities and new pipeline will be installed to mitigate their problem
Kavinder Gupta also assured the locals that their genuine concerns will be taken up on priority for early resolution and issued on spot instructions to the concerned officers to initiate the necessary measures for early mitigation of public demands regarding development works.
Reiterating Government’s commitment, the Speaker said the present dispensation has put in resolute efforts to provide basic amenities to the people at their door steps. He said the government is working with an agenda of equitable development to ensure the welfare of every section of society.
The Speaker also emphasized on the active public participation in the development works initiated for their betterment. Stressing on regular monitoring of the ongoing works, the Speaker directed the officers of concerned executive agencies to properly check and monitor the quality of the material used in the projects.
The Speaker was accompanied by Senior Politician Rajinder Singh besides officers of the concerned departments and prominent citizens of the locality.
