Bali reviews functioning of GMCH, associated hospitals in Jmu

Jammu: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat Saturday convened a meeting to review the fuctioning of Government Medical College, Super Specialty Hospital and Associated Hospitals of Jammu to improve the overall functioning of these institutions.

In the meeting, various issues related to the functioning of these institutions vis-a-vis difficulties being faced in rendering the day-to-day duties with regard to the requisite diagnostic equipments, essential medicines, articles of emergency nature, paucity of manpower including doctors and trained para-medics were discussed.

The issues with regard to delay in procurement of medicines, specialized equipments like Cardiac Monitors, Ventilators, liabilities on various accounts, diet to the patients, outsourcing of sanitation, hospital security were also discussed in the meeting.

The Minister called for close synergy among JKMSCL, GMC, SSH and associated hospitals for timely procurement of medicines and diagnostic equipments.

He said JKMSCL has the sole mandate of procurement of all kinds of medicines and equipments and it is mandatory on its part to meet out the timely requirements of all hospitals.

The Minister directed for nominating a Nodal Officer for sorting petty issues between the GMC and JKMSCL for ensuring expeditious disposal of issues, especially related to the procurement of medicines and equipments.

In order to meet the emergency requirements, the Minister directed for utilization of 25 per cent of the annual budgetary provisions, but rest must be utilized by purchases through the Corporation which has been created for the said purpose.

For providing diet to the patients, the Minister directed for working out the proposal afresh according to the budgetary provisions and actual requirements. He assured to address the issues relating to the outsourcing of sanitation and hospital security after the opening of darbar move at Srinagar.

Prominent among those present in the meeting included Principal GMC, Dr. Sunanda Raina, Managing Director, JKMSCL, Inderjeet Bhagat, Medical Superintendent (MS), SSH, Dr. Arun Sharma, MS, GMC, Dr. Dara Singh, MS, SMGS, Dr. R.K. Sangra, Dr. Rajeshwar Sharma from CD Hospital and officers from JKMSCL and GMC.
