Srinagar: Alleging that country has fallen to extremely bad times and even the Supreme Court of India is under pressure, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz said voice raised by Fali Nariman was a fresh wind in a desert of hopelessness.
In a letter to Mr Nariman, senior jurist, Prof Soz said “ You are an embodiment of two situations for me and millions of Indians, a fresh wind in a desert of hopelessness and a tireless warrior for truth and justice”.
“I keep waching you from a distance and your words are a relief to millions of Indians. We have fallen to extremely bad times and even the Supreme Court of India is under pressure. You constitute a great hope in our bad times”, the letter, released to press here said.
“When you speak on judicial matters, your word assumes finality in the system. It is sad that the last bastion for protection of Indian democracy, the Supreme Court of India and other high institutions of judicial system, are under attack and it seems you alone can fight the battle”, he said.
“Your assertion, the other day, that Collegium Decision was final and everything else was malafide, came as a great relief to the system. Otherwise there was fear that the system would crumble down. India needs you now and India needs you the days ahead”, Prof Soz said.
