Better road network imperative for holistic dev: Kavinder

Jammu: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Friday launched multiple development works in the Gandhi Nagar Constituency here Friday.

The works including macadamization of Satwari – RS Pura road from 2nd km to 5th km at an estimated cost of 2 Crore to be executed by Public Works (R&B) Department.

Meanwhile, Speaker also initiated the construction and tile work of lane at Ward no 50, Gujjar Mohalla, Channi Himmat  being executed by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).

Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder said several developmental works are being undertaken in constituency for the benefit of public at large.

“Government has formulated a comprehensive development plan keeping in mind all the factors crucial for achieving the desired results on ground”, the Speaker affirmed.

Laying emphasis on improvement and expansion of road connectivity, the Speaker said a feasible road network plays a pivotal role in ensuring that other facilities and amenities reach public. “Roads are essential for growth and social integration which facilitate development of any area”, the Speaker maintained.

Highlighting various development works initiated in the constituency, he said the government has launched various flagship programmes and laid full focus on development of infrastructure and providing better civic amenities to the people with special focus on improving road connectivity.

Kavinder directed the executing agencies not to compromise on the quality of work. He directed all allied agencies to work in close coordination so that the works are completed in stipulated time and further stressed on close monitoring of the ongoing works.

Underlining the importance of public participation for ensuring holistic development of their areas, he asked the locals to come forward and personally monitor the quality of works being executed in their respective areas.

The Speaker also interacted with the locals and took note of their problems and demands. He assured them that all their genuine demands will be considered and gave on the spot directions to the concerned authorities to take necessary steps.

Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), S A WANI, AEE, Arvind Langeh, officers of the concerned departments besides senior politicians Vinay Gupta, Harbans Choudhary and prominent citizens of the locality were present on the occasion.
