Speaker lauds MVD for introducing reformative measures on road safety

JAMMU: As part of celebration of 29th National Road Safety Week, Motor Vehicle Department Wednesday organized awareness camps at Taxi Stand Railway Station Jammu and Bus Stand Ware House Jammu. 

More than 300 commercial drivers attended the awareness programs at both the venues and were examined medically by a team deputed by the Health Department.

Speaker Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta, was the Chief Guest at the camp organized at Railway Station Taxi Stand by Motor Vehicle Department in association with Taxi Operator Union with Red FM 91.9 as media partner.

 While speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta stressed upon the need to strictly follow the traffic rules for our own safety and others. He appealed the Taxi drivers to desist from the practice of drunkard driving as they carry precious lives with them. 

The Speaker also appreciated the Motor Vehicles Department for introducing a number of reformative measures which has further added to transparency and accountability in functioning of the department. 

 MLC Charanjeet Singh Khalsa, who was Guest of Honour in the program, sought the attention of Government towards Taxi Operator to ameliorate their grievances.

Others who attended the program were Additional Transport Commissioner Mohinder Singh, Joint Transport Commissioner, Vikas Sharma, Regional Transport Officer, Deep Raj, ARTO’s Jugal Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Shafqat Majeed, Pawan Sharma, President Taxi Operator Union, Anchal Singh Manhas, Inderjeet Sharma, other office bearers of Taxi Union besides concerned officials. 

Earlier, similar programs were organized at Ware House Bus Stand Jammu in association with Bus Operator Union of different groups. 

The participants were made aware about Road Safety nor Deep Raj RTO Jammu while speaking on the occasion lauded the efforts of Transport Association for organizing the events on Road Safety.

On the occasion, quiz competition of drivers was also organized at both the camps by Big Red FM 91.9 through group head Shekhar and Radio Jokey Amit and Sarang. 

The Speaker presented prize to winner of the competition besides giving away consolation prizes to other participants.
