Kupwara: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir Thursday inaugurated U- 19 boys football tournament at Model BHSS Kupwara. All the winning teams at Zonal level will participate in the tournament that will conclude on April 28.
Meanwhile, “Let’s Play Football” competitions an initiative under “Khelo India” by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GoI is in progress in the district. The tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports. In the first phase of the Competition conducted at Zonal Level 3497 students, both boys and girls of different age groups participated at their respective Zonal headquarters. The Second phase (Inter-Zonal District Level) competition commenced from 23rd April at BHSS Kupwara & BHSS Trehgam in which 1072 both boys & girls of various age groups are participating.
Speaking on the occasion DC Kupwara highlighted the significance of games and Sports towards building a strong nation and exhorted participants to compete by imbibing principles of true sportsmanship.
