Poonch: The Development Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad Tuesday stressed upon the players to inculcate sportsmanship while taking parts in games and play with a vision to become players of national or international repute.
He was speaking at the felicitation function of inter zonal football tournament organized under Khelo India campaign.
Tournament was held in three separate categories viz Under 19, Under 16 and Under 12 in which three girls and three boys teams participated.
Final matches of the tournament were played Tuesday which saw Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Mohammad Aijaz Asad as chief guest besides other officials of government departments including Education and Sports departments.
While addressing the program, Deputy Commissioner Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad underlined the importance of sports in Tuesday’s era and its innumerable benefits towards physical fitness and mental well being.
He also highlighted the need of promoting sports at different levels especially helping children imbibe sportsmanship and help them to enjoy sports with proper consideration of fairness, ethics, respect and a sense of fellowship with one’s competitors.
DC Poonch also informed the participants that administration is going to organize number of activities in near future to upgrade sports in the district.
Prize and momentos were also distributed among winner and runner up teams by DC Poonch.
