Jammu/April,24: The state cabinet met here on Tuesday with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in chair and approved an ordinance to allow courts to pronounce death penalty to child rapists.
Reports said that the Criminal law ordinance 2018 (amendment) and Jammu Kashmir Protection of Children from Sexual Violence were approved by the cabinet which met today in Jammu.
The ordinance would be at par with the central government law on death to accused found guilty of raping a victim up to twelve years of age.
Those guilty of raping a victim, aged between 13 and 16, will get lifer.

– Investigation to be completed in two months and trial by court will be complete in six months (not beyond that)
– Fine if any will be given to victim instead of going to the state treasury
