3 militants,One army man,One policeman killed in Tral gunfight

Srinagar/April,24: Three militants,one army man and one policeman were on Tuesday killed in gunfight which started in the morning with the exchange of fire in Lam Forest area of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and end in the late afternoon hours..
Reports reaching here said that all three militants who had earlier fled after exchanging fire with the forces were trapped during a joint operation launched by the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Lam forest area of Tral.

During the gunfight that lasted for many hours, all three militants were killed. “Two among the slain are foreigners while the third one is believed to be a local,” said a police official’adding that the slain seem to be associated with the Jaish-e-Muhammad outfit.

“During the encounter, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot. The search in the area is going on,” said a police spokesman, in a statement.

Sepoy Ajay Kumar of 42 RR, who was injured in the initial firing exchange, succumbed to his injuries at Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Badami Bagh Cantonment area here.

Muhammad Latif Gujar of Jammu and Kashmir Police also succumbed to injuries. Two other soldiers injured in the gunfight have been hospitalized.
