Srinagar: Valley Citizen’s Council on Monday launched a signature campaign in the summer capital, Srinagar, to seek justice for the eight-year-old girl, who was raped and brutally murdered in Kathua in Jammu region.
“The VCC launched this signature campaign today in Srinagar to seek justice for the Bakerwal girl of Kathua and prosecution and punishment of the culprits and conspirators in accordance with the law,” Valley Citizen’s Council chairman Imdad Saqi told UNI.
He said no one should try to interrupt the process of administration of justice by commutating the crime to protect the criminals. “Due process of law should be allowed to proceed and every citizen should support the call for justice,” he said.
“The Council makes this fervent appeal to the Chief Justice of J&K that the state High Court should sumoto take the trial of rape and murder case in its own hand. The HC should designate a sitting judge of the HC for conducting the trial as there are efforts on foot to disrupt the administration of justice in the case by the vested interest,” he said.
“As this movement, various organizations and representatives of different organization, besides writers, artists, journalists took part in the campaign,” he said.
