Srinagar: Class work will remain suspended in few colleges and higher secondary schools of Kashmir valley on Saturday, officials said.
The decision to suspend class work in these institutions has been taken as a “precautionary measure” to avoid student protests, said an official.
The class work will remain suspended in all colleges of Srinagar district while as other educational institutions will function normally tomorrow, said an official.
In Baramulla, government Degree College, Sopore and Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore will remain closed while teachers have been asked to report for duty.
In Ganderbal and Pulwama districts, class work will remain suspended in all degree colleges and higher secondary schools. Deputy Commissioner Shopian Gazanffar Ali said class work will remain suspended in degree colleges and government as well as private higher secondary schools of the district.
Class work will also remain suspended in all degree colleges, higher secondary schools and High School Bagh of Bandipora district. However educational institutions in Gurez sub-division will remain functional, said an official.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag said class work will remain suspended in colleges and higher secondary schools of Anantnag and Bijbehara towns while as educational institutions in rest of the parts of district will remain functional. “Further, private coaching centres have already been closed until further orders,” he said.
Class work will also remain suspended at Degree College and Boys Higher secondary school Kulgam.
In Kupwara, classwork will remain suspended at GDC Handwara, HSS Langate and Vilgam tomorrow, said an official.
