Jammu: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Thursday said massive developmental and beautification works are being undertaken in Gandhi Nagar constituency for the benefit of people.
The Speaker said this while addressing the gathering after inaugurating several lanes and drains in Ward No. 56, Gangyal in Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
The works for these lanes and drains were undertaken by the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Kavinder said these works will benefit a large number of people, adding that by completion of these public importance works, long pending demand of the people has been fulfilled.
He said a massive program for beautification of Gandhi Nagar Constituency has also been launched under which various parks and gardens are being revitalized in the area for the people, besides several other projects are also being executed which are in various stages of development.
While inspecting the expansion work for Local Park at Gangyal, the Speaker directed the concerned authorities to complete it within stipulated time frame so that the local people especially morning walkers are benefitted.
He said another park is under development at Jeevan Nagar which will be completed soon and will be dedicated to the people of the area.
The Speaker also interacted with local people and took note of their problems and demands. Demands include supply of adequate drinking water, cleanliness of Nallahs, blacktopping on inner roads, construction of lanes and drains and proper sewerage system.
The Speaker gave on the spot directions to the concerned authorities of PHE department to take necessary steps for providing adequate supply of clean drinking water to the people of the area. He also directed the concerned JMC authorities to start special cleanliness drive to remove the garbage from the nallah and other areas.
A team of senior officers of concerned departments, senior political leaders and prominent citizens also accompanied the Speaker during his visit.
