PM should fast track cases of rapes of minor children: Rahul

New Delhi: Continuing his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on increasing cases of rapes in the country, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the PM should fast track cases of rapes of minor children.
In a post on social media, Mr Gandhi said, ‘there were 19,675 rapes of minor children reported in 2016. This is shameful. PM should fast track these cases and punish the guilty if he is serious about providing “justice for our daughters”.
He was referring to the PM’s April 13 statement condemning the gruesome Kathua and Unnao rape cases and promised that ‘daughters will get justice ‘ and the ‘guilty’ will not be spared.
The Congress leader had on Thursday led a candlelight march at India Gate to protest the rape cases in Unnao and Kathua and increasing incidents of violence against women in the country.
