Modi’s unexplained silence on Kathua gangrape-n-murder

A leader taking pride in his slogans “Beti Bachao”, “Beti Padao” does not break his silence over the gang rape and murder of an eight year old minor girl in Hiranagar area of Kathua district and surprisingly the explanations on Prime Minister’s silence are yet to come from the BJP and the Prime Minister’s office even after the condemnation of the gang rape and murder of the girl from people of all shades across India including the celebrities of bollywood, sports persons of International repute like Sania Mirza and the leader of the main opposition party Congress in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. Shockingly the BJP while trying to play politics with the issue of the gang rape and murder of Kathua’s minor girl is overtly and covertly tends to shield the ministers who spoke in favour of the accused and attended a rally called in support of the accused in Kathua district. Now the BJP’s National spokesperson Meenakashi Lekhi says that the two BJP ministers were ‘misled and misguided” by some people and they should not have commented the way they have commented but a counter question for the BJP’s national spokesperson is that why did the ministers choose to attend the Hindu Ekta Manch rally after the Chief Minister’s detailed statement on the gang rape and murder of the minor girl in the assembly and the suspension of SHO Hiranagar for showing laxity in recovery of the girl who was hostaged in a temple for eight long days in the area. Fact of the matter is that ministers attended the Hindu Ekta Manch rally after the announcement of the probe by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in the assembly and few days after the budget session of the assembly ended in Jammu almost all BJP ministers sought a meeting with the Chief Minister to agitate over their demand for transfer of the gang rape and murder case from Crime Branch of Jammu & Kashmir Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Since the statements and the actions of the two BJP ministers at Hindu Ekta Manch rally have emboldened the lawyers at district court Kathua to obstruct the legal proceedings in the premises of the court, the people who condemn the conduct of lawyers in district court Kathia want the Prime Minister to break his silence with the intent of showing the door to the two ministers of his party for their misconduct in Jammu & Kashmir.

Fearing a public outrage BJP expelled its state secretary Rajeev Sharma for choosing to head the Hindu Ekta Manch only with the intents of shielding the two ministers whose statements and participation in the Hindu Ekta Manch rally emboldened the Chief of the Bar Association Jammu B S Salathia to threaten the family of the victim and the crime branch officials. Lawyers stopping a team of investigators of the Crime Branch of Jammu & Kashmir police from filing a charge sheet in the premises of district court Kathua is by all standards of understandabilities a legal offence that invites stringent punishment and Supreme Court of the country issuing notices to Bar Council of India and Jammu Bar Association on the conduct of lawyers indicates that possibility of the top court contemplating an action against the lawyers who tried to disrupt legal proceedings in this case can’t be ruled out.
