Speaker visits Narwal Pain Satwari to assesses dev needs of the area

Jammu: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Friday visited the Jawahar Nagar, Narwal Pain Satwari to listen to the grievances of the people with regard to the developmental issues of the area.

Reiterating his commitment to provide better basic amenities to the people of the area, the Speaker said massive developmental activities have been launched in Gandhi Nagar Constituency to ensure safe drinking water, better sewerage, drainage, road connectivity and new transformers to the left-out areas.

On the occasion, the locals put forth their demands to the Speaker including replacement of old transformer with installation of new 400 KVA Transformer to cater the need of power supply of the area, installation of lights and benches in the local park and providing of PRCs pending in SDM Office for long time.

They also demanded to launch a cleanliness drive of main Nallah passing through the adjoining area of Jeevan Nagar. In this regard, the Speaker gave on the spot directions to the concerned authorities of JMC to take immediate necessary steps to start cleanliness drive of Nallah.

To improve overall power scenario in Gandhi Nagar Constituency, the Speaker informed that more than 250 new Transformers and 14000 electricity poles have been installed in his constituency during last three years with an aim to provide better and un-interrupted power supply to the people of Gandhi Nagar Constituency.

The Speaker said Rs 5.5 crore are being spent on creation of park opposite MBS College Babliana and work on the said park is going on and will be dedicated to the people of the area very soon. He said another project of Rs 5.5 crore for construction and up-gradation of a Nallah from Nai Basti to Digiana is also in pipeline and work will be started on the project soon.

He said the government has taken several steps to provide better road connectivity, up-gradation of health infrastructure, up-gradation of tourism scenario, providing safe drinking water and quality education, creation of new parks, lanes and drains, construction of culverts and bridge.

On the other demands projected by the locals, the Speaker assured to them that their all pending demands would be fulfilled on priority basis. He sought full cooperation from the people of the area to monitor the developmental activities carried out by the different agencies of the government for the development of the state.

Among others, Ex Corporator, senior leaders, prominent citizens, a large number of local people were also present in the meeting.
