Srinagar/April,3: Senior National Conference leader and MLA Kangan Mian Altaf Ahmed Tuesday demanded judicial probe into the injuring of a youth in “unwarranted” police firing in Kangan Monday this week..

Expressing sorrow over the serious injury caused to the youth, Mian Altaf termed the police action “unfortunate and unwarranted”.

“This is totally unwarranted action by police to open fire at youth in Kangan,” he said, in a statement today.

He demanded that judicial inquiry should be ordered into the incident to punish the guilty.

Mian Altaf also expressed concern over the prevailing situation in Kangan and urged the security forces to work professionally and exercise restraint while dealing with any protests to avoid loss of human lives.

“Such incidents will deteriorate the normalcy and peace in the area,” he said.
