CEC Kargil convenes preparatory meet

Kargil:  Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan today convened a preparatory meeting of the district officers to discuss various mega projects to be submitted under 15th Finance Commission.

Executive Councilor for Education Advocate Muhammad Amir, Executive Councilor for Rural Development Aga Syed Hassan Armaan Moosavi, Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Tenzin Sonam, Executive Councilor for Agriculture Muhammad Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Imteeaz Kacho, Assistant Commissioner Development Kargil Barkat Ali Lone Nizami, besides sectoral heads were present in the meeting.

During the meeting threadbare discussion was held regarding the projects under different sectors to be proposed under the 15th Finance Commission.

The CEC impressed upon the officers to prepare schemes and projects in line with the developmental needs of the people. He also stressed to focus on schemes which are aimed to mitigate the ill effects of global warming like construction of snow check dams, artificial glaciers, introduction of sprinkle irrigation, ground water and soil recharge etc.

During the meeting it was decided that projects for the construction of parking lots, indoor stadia and blacktopping of roads in all blocks of the district, hostels for higher secondary schools, construction of Auditorium and classrooms for Degree College, Kargil, besides repair and restoration of HT and LT lines in rural areas shall be prepared by the concerned departments so that these are projected to the Government of India for inclusion under the 15th Finance Commission.

Decisions were also taken with regard to the formulation of schemes for development of sea buck thorn and medicinal plants, laying of green corridor on National Highway 1, development of Cattle Breeding Farm Khumbathang and Yak Breeding Farm Bodh Kharboo, establishment of milk packaging, pasteurization units and cold storage systems etc.

Projects for the repair and maintenance of hand pumps, beautification of heritage sites, construction of working women hostel, old age home, Asthma ward, besides official buildings for the newly created administrative units and office buildings for the BDOs in different blocks of the district were also decided to be prepared and projected to the Government for consideration.
