Srinagar/March,29: Clashes boke out between protesters and the government forces Thursday morning during a search operation in Hajin town of Bandipora district.
Reports said that forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Syed Mohalla village of Hajin after inputs about the presence of militants.
They said that scores of protesters took to streets and pelted the forces with stones. The forces retaliated by firing teargas to disperse the protesters, they said.
Army’s 13 RR unit, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF had jointly launched the operation in Syed Mohalla Hajin town.
House-to-house searches were carried out in the area around 6 am. The operation was called off around 7:30 am, said an official.
