Jammu/March,38: Three militants are reported killed in an ongoing gunfight with the government forces in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district .
A police official on conditions of anonymity said “the gunfight began today morning in Ravarian Talla village, around one kilometre from Sunderbani township, after militants opened fire on a search party of the forces.Heavy gunfight is going on,” said a senior police officer, adding three militants have been killed in the gunfight. “One militant is believed to be trapped. Firing is going on.”
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said three militants have been killed in the gunfight so far. “Sunderbani encounter: 3 terrorists killed as per reports. Forces on the job for suspected 4th. #Rajouri,” he tweeted.
Earlier, speaking to reporters near the site of the gunfight, SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas said that at least two militants have been surrounded by the forces. “The information is preliminary in nature,” he said.
Before the gunfight, the forces recovered bags containing ammunition and explosive material during searches in the area.
