Jammu: Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta Tuesday undertook inspection of ongoing works for setting up of 33/11 KV 1×10 MVA New Receiving Sub-Station for Gandhi Nagar area.

The works are being executed by JKPDD at an estimated cost of Rs 2.27 crore under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development & Reforms Program (R-APDRP).

During his visit, the Speaker was informed that the works on the project are being executed at a steady pace with works on Sub structures nearing completion. Besides, superstructure along with transformer and others material will also be installed as per schedule, in a timely manner. He was further informed that the works under the project are being executed on mission mode and are expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Taking note of the progress made on the project, the Speaker said works on the new substation for Gandhi Nagar area will go a long way in strengthening the existing power transmission systems and benefit over 60,000 souls residing in the area.

Urging the concerned agencies to ensure time bound and effective implementation of this project, Kavinder said the new substation will also decrease the load on existing stations catering to the area and substantially reduce overloading problems like power fluctuations and breakdowns.

The Speaker also asked the concerned to ensure thorough testing of all aspects of the project on completion and before commissioning it for use in the area.

Superintendent Engineer Sunil Gupta, Executive Engineer P D Singh Jamwal and other officers accompanied the Speaker.
