Jammu: Minister for Education, Finance, Labour and Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Monday called upon teacher fraternity to groom up children as responsible citizens so that they act as ambassadors for promotion of resource generation and conservation.

“Our state needs to develop a habit of judicious use, conservation and generation of resources to make them long lasting for  posterity. Teachers through their grit of patience and untiring teaching capabilities can make children understand about the importance of developing these good habits” Altaf Bukhari said while addressing a huge gathering of teachers.

The occasion was a function organized by Plus Two lecturers’ forum to celebrate Lecturers Day. Minister of State for Education, Culture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi also addressed the participants which included senior academicians, lecturers, CEOs and other officials of School Education Department.

“Presently we are enjoying all facilities and seeking more incentives, but at the same time we need to think for the coming generation” he said while responding to demands raised by the speakers.

He said the government and its officials, who are also part of the society, are guardian of the people’s wealth and own the responsibility to save the state’s resources. Expressing optimism, he said situation can be definitely reversed provided the need for change is met.

Meanwhile, the Minister assured the Forum that all their genuine demands would be thoroughly discussed and addressed in due course of time.

Only academic excellence cannot help our children to grow up as responsible and law abiding citizens, they need to be imparted education founded on moral values, she said. She called upon the teachers to come up with their suggestions for achieving this crucial objective.

Responding to the issues raised by the speakers, she said the government led by Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has huge respect for the aspirations of the teachers and feels obliged to restore and protect their dignity. “I think no previous government has shown such considerate concern towards the issues of teachers as this dispensation did. Many of your issues have been addressed and those pending would be sympathetically addressed” she assured.

Later, the Forum presented mementoes to the Ministers and felicitated senior academicians and educationists for their contribution in raising the standard of school education.
