Baramulla/March,25: Thousands of people Sunday attended the funeral prayers of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba militant in his ancestral village Wagoora in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Witnesses said that thousands of mourners, including men, women and elderly, assembled in Wagoora after the news of Shafat Hussain Wani’s death reached there.
People shouted pro freedom slogans as the body of Wani was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard.
Earlier, forces were deployed in strength in and around Wagoora area to prevent any untoward incident.
Authorities also suspended the mobile Internet service in parts of Baramulla soon after Wani’s killing.
Wani was killed in a gunfight with forces in Arizal village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district around midnight.
