Militant killed, woman injured during shootout in Arizal Budgam

Srinagar/March,25: A militant was killed and a woman injured during a gunfight between government forces and the militants in Arizal village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Police officials said “following inputs about the presence of militants in Khan mohalla of Arizal village of central Kashmir’s Budgam district, seluths of Police, 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon and search operation in the locality where militants were hiding around midnight.” They said one militant while trying to flee came out of the house and fired indiscriminately at the forces and in the shoot out one lady received injury in thigh. The woman, identified as Humaira, was shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla where her condition is reported to be stable.The officials said the militant was killed in retaliatory fire by the forces. “Arms and ammunition have been recovered,” they said.The slain militant, according to reports, was identified as Shafat Hussain Wani of Wagoora Baramulla.

The officials said , the area is under cordon and searches are being conducted.SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh said the gunfight has ended with the killing of the militant.
