Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Molvi Umar Farooq on Friday said New Delhi’s decision to use plastic bullets in Kashmir is only to prevent the people from asking India to honour its commitment of the resolution of the dispute.
“After raining live bullets, teargas shells, pellets, pava shells, GOI has now decided to experiment with plastic bullets and add it to the military arsenal against hapless kashmiris! All this to prevent kashmiris from asking India to honour its commitment of resolution of K dispute!” tweeted the Mirwaiz soon after delivering his Friday sermon at the historic Jamia Masjid.
Mirwaiz’s remark comes two days after the Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said the government plans to use “less lethal plastic bullets” to tackle “law and order” situations in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The government has decided to introduce less lethal plastic bullets also to be used in tackling law and order situations in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said in reply to a written question in Lok Sabha.
