BJP working on cross purposes in Kashmir

The state unit of the BJP after its abject failure is settling political scores over the crime branch investigation into the rape-n-murder case of the Kathua minor girl has tended to undo the decision of the union home ministry controlled and commanded by Rajnath Singh on the rehabilitation plan announced for the militants willing to surrender. Blocking the state cabinet’s proposal seeking payment of Rs 6 lakhs to militants showing willingness to surrender the BJP minister surprisingly sought the reasons for payment of one lakh less to the border residents killed in cross border shelling. Had the BJP ministers been interested in restraining youth from involvement in militancy related activities then they won’t block the proposal during a cabinet meeting in Jammu despite its endorsement by none else than the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The stand taken by the BJP ministers show that the saffron party in Jammu & Kashmir is more concerned about their vote banks in their own pockets of political influence in Jammu region and less interested in measures proposed for the return of youth from militancy to mainstream. So in a way it can be said that BJP ministers in the Mehbooba government are trying to subvert the reconciliation measures of their own government both at the centre and in the state and this by no standards of understandability is suited to the implementation of the “ agenda of alliance” which BJP top brass says is the guiding factor for the PDP and BJP to run smooth the incumbent coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir. The stand of the BJP ministers on the proposal seeking payment of Rs 6 lakhs to militants for showing willingness to surrender also goes against the spirit of the stabilization of the atmosphere of peace and security in the state particularly in Kashmir valley.
For the last two years the state BJP leaders tend to undo the decisions taken by the Chief Minister in consensus with the central high command of the BJP but the PDP brass is unfortunately taking a lenient view of the increasing intolerance the state BJP leaders are showing even on key issues having a direct bearing on the stablilisation of the atmosphere of peace and security in Kashmir valley. In response to the argument of BJP ministers that paying one lakh more to youth showing readiness to shun militancy than the border residents killed in cross border shelling the PDP minister too reserve the right to seek measures to secure their future in the pockets of their political influence in Kashmir valley. Running a coalition government with the spirit of bringing back the youth from the paths of militancy and streets protest leaves no scope for either the BJP or the PDP to endorse or oppose the decisions taken for rebuilding the future of the youth who have overtly and covertly shown their unwillingness to endorse the alliance of PDP with BJP in Jammu & Kashmir state.
