Jammu: Continuing its endeavour to ensure clean & safe Jammu City through a series of drives launched by Jammu Municipal Corporation, under the active guidance of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Ramesh Kumar, special teams of JMC under the joint supervision of Secretary, JMC Sunaina Mehta and Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, Vinakshi Koul conducted comprehensive drives Thursday.
Drives on encroachments of footpaths, illegal hoardings, illegal rehries/pharies have been conducted in various areas of Jammu city including Bohri Poonch House, Talab Tillo upto Canal Head, Amphalla, New Plot, High Court Road, Janipur throughout this period.
During these drives, the team removed 7 truck loads of material including illegal banners, flexes, hoardings and goods displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and lifted illegal rehries plying without licence.
The encroachers and shopkeepers of the areas were warned to desist from advertising and installing hoardings of various private companies without seeking prior permission from Jammu Municipal Corporation. Apart from that, strict warnings were issued to shopkeepers to keep their saleable items within their shutter line and not to encroach the footpaths which lead to congestion and obstruct free movement of pedestrians on footpath. The street vendors were also directed to ply their rehries only in the rehri zones established by JMC.
JMC asked the shopkeepers to follow the guidelines and rules to avoid penal action against them.
