Jammu: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and Director General Police Dr S P Vaid have in their separate statements condoled the demise of journalist, author and writer, Maqbool Saahil who passed away Tuesday at Srinagar.
In her condolence message, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said the contribution made by late Maqbool Saahil in strengthening vernacular media in the State and preserving, promoting and protecting Pahari language and literature would long be remembered.She conveyed her heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family of late Maqbool Saahil while praying for peace to the departed soul.
Director General Police Dr S P Vaid has also condoled the demise of noted journalist and writer Maqbool Sahil. In a tweet by Jammu Kashmir Police stated that
DGP @spvaid has condoled the sudden and sad demise of Sh Mohammed Maqbool Sahil a well known journalist and writer of Kashmir.DGP has extended his heartfelt condolences to bereaved family and to @bukharishujaat with whose group of publication Sh Sahil was working.
Maqbool Sahil passed away on Tuesday evening here. Reports said Sahil collapsed while walking in Lal Bazar area of the city.
Sahil, who also wrote poetry and was an avid photographer.
He was born in 1968 in Adhal village of south Kashmir’s Kokernag area in a clan of Khokhar Rajputs. His father Mohammad Jamal-ud-Din Khokhar called him Sahil, which would later become his pen name. Maqbool graduated with Bachelors in Science from SP College.
In 1989, he joined Urdu newspaper ‘Daily Aftab’ as assistant editor. He joined Urdu weekly ‘Chattan’ in 1999, where he would write investigative pieces.
