Srinagar: Scores of prominent citizens and constituents of Amirakadal Saturday called on Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, the minister for education, finance, Labour and employment at his Sheikh Bagh office here to felicitate him on taking over as finance minister of the State.

Since morning scores of men and women gathered in the meeting hall of the private office of Bukhari to welcome and congratulate him on the new assignment of the ministry of finance.

The minister expressed gratitude towards the constituents for their ceaseless support. In an interaction later, the constituents drew the attention of the finance minister towards the measures required for the overall development of Amirakadal constituency.

Bukhari promised the visitors that he will leave no stone unturned to work for the welfare of common people.  “Our government has taken a number of welfare measures for the poor and the disadvantaged sections of the society. Under the leadership of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, the state of Jammu and Kashmir is bound to achieve various milestones in its socio-economic development,” he said.

The deputations representing different areas of   Srinagar especially from Amirakadal constituency also projected local issues of their respective areas primarily related to the development of infrastructure, improvement of basic amenities.

Interacting with the deputations, the Minister said the state government is working tirelessly for equitable development as well as restoration of peace in the state.

He said the present dispensation in the State has tagged public welfare and equitable development as thrust areas. Bukhari said it will continue with its policy of reaching out to the people in order to mitigate their sufferings on account of various day to day issues.

The Minister told the workers that although the new assignment has put extra responsibility on his shoulders, yet he will not allow it to come in the way of his commitments towards the development of Amirakadal constituency and the Srinagar city in general.
