Srinagar/March,17: Police on Saturday said that the body of third militant killed in Thursday’s gunfight with the government forces in Balhama area of Khonmoh in the outskirts of Srinagar has been recovered.
“From the #Balhama encounter site one more militant body and incriminating materials recovered. The site is being cleared by the BD (bomb disposal) squad,” police said in a tweet.Earlier, two militants — Owais Ahmad of Nowdal Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Aghanzipora Awantipora — were killed in the gunfight that began on Thursday afternoon after militants attacked the policemen guarding a Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anwar Khan.A policeman was injured in the attack.Superintendent of Police (SP) Srinagar, according to GNS news agency, identified the slain militant as Abu Hamas, a top commander of Pakistan.โIt took us time to sanitize the encounter site due to apprehensions of the presence of explosive material amid protests going on in the area,โ he said, as per the report.
