Kargil: In order to sensitize the workers to access various facilities under Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board besides to impart training to the Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) to spread awareness pertaining to registration of labourers at the grassroots, Labour Department Kargil organized a one day awareness cum training program here Thursday.
Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Principal District and Session Judge Kargil S.K Bhagat was the chief guest on the occasion. In his address, the chief guest while highlighting the need to sensitize the labourers about their rights as well as the labour laws underlined the need to organize such programs in future as well.
He stressed upon the PLVs to work with missionary zeal and dedication thereby ensuring the fact that the labours get their due rights and are able to avail facilities being made available to them by the Government under labour laws.
Meanwhile, the chief guest distributed cheques on account of scholarship and death assistance among the family members of around 25 labourers.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Kargil Muhammad Kazim, In Charge Labour Officer Kargil Nissar Hussain, Public Prosecutor Kargil Kacho Manzoor Ali Khan, President Bar Association Kargil Khadim Hussain, members of the Bar Association Kargil, PLVs and labourers from different parts of the district attended the training program.
Rs 1.6 lakh fine realized from shopkeepers, manufacturers for selling substandard food products in Budgam.
