Srinagar:The educational institutes in central northern Kashmir districts reopened on Saturday after three month long winter vacation.
However, all the schools including primary, High and Higher Secondary School continued to remain closed.
The schools were scheduled to reopen on Monday this week but the authorities suspended the class work till Friday in view of the civilian killings in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Director School Education Kashmir, G N Itoo had said that the schools will remain closed from Monday to Friday in view of the then prevailing situation.
He later extended the suspension of class work till Friday.
All the schools in central and northern districts reopened Saturday while the students in the wee hours of this morning were seen dressed in their school uniforms, waiting for their school buses at bus stops.
The roads especially in Srinagar witnessed a traffic mess in this morning.
Officials said that the educational institutes in Southern district which continued to remain closed Saturday will reopen from Monday.
