National Nutrition Mission launched in Gool

Ramban: State Mission Director, ICDS G.A Sofi Friday launched National Nutrition Mission (NNM) covering Gool block of district Ramban in a function organized to mark the celebrations of International Women’s Day.
ADC, Ramban Gurvinder Jeet Singh, SDM, GoolPankaj, TehsildarGool, Mohammad Ashraf, Principal GHSS Gool, BMO, Dr Bashir Ahmad, CDPOs, students and officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
During the programe, an awareness rally was also taken out from Gool Hospital to SDM Office to educate the people about the Mission.
While addressing the gathering, G.A Sofi informed that Gool is one of the three ICDS Blocks of the state where NNM has been launched Friday.
Emphasizing on the importance of providing proper nutrition to children, Sofi said Mission Indradhanush has brought an extremely positive change in the lives of women and children. National Nutrition Mission and BetiBachao, BetiPadhao should run like Jan Andolan to fully implement them on ground, he added.
The ADC, in his speech, highlighted the objectives of NNM and journey of success and struggle of BetiBachao, BetiPadhao Scheme since its launch. He said with continuous and persistent efforts, the attitude of the society towards the girl child has shown a change for the better and within three years itself, the girls to boys’ ratio has shoot well above 900.
He also highlighted how women have broken the barriers in their lives and excelled in varied fields. Several unique initiatives have been taken by the state government as well as the people including planting trees on the birth of girl child, appointing successful girls as brand ambassadors, marriage vows to save and protect the girl child, the ADC added.
