A sentry of Shopian police station in Pulwama district on Thursday late night fired few rounds in the air after noticing suspicious movement.
An official said that the sentry fired few shots after noticing suspicious movement near the police station around 11:30 pm.
There was no report of any injuries. The official said that nocturnal searches were later launched in the area.
Meanwhile, government forces launched cordon and search operation in Dardsara and Akhal villages of Pulwama district on Friday.
Forces personnel’ comprising Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off these villages. As per locals, the forces had sealed all the entry and exit points in these areas and operation was on for hours together.
A police official said that a cordon and search operation was launched in these villages following inputs about the presence of militants.
