Srinagar/Feb,27: The militant who was injured in an exchange of fire with the government forces on Monday in north Kashmir’s Hajan succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, police said.
In a statement, police spokesperson said the Lashker-e-Toiba militant who was injured in a shootout with government forces at Bon Mohalla in Hajin has succumbed to his injuries.
“On specific input yesterday, security forces cordoned Bon Mollah at Hajan. While the cordon was being laid there was exchange of fire. Though in the search operation no dead body was recovered consequently it was learnt that one militant of LeT was injured in the encounter,” said the spokesman.
He added police came to know about the death on Tuesday.”Since the body was already in the village request was made to the villagers to handover the body to police. Meanwhile the body was buried amidst a procession led by some miscreants,” he said.
The spokesman said that they have initiated action against the people who led the protest.
“Also necessary legal action has been initiated against the people who led the protest and instigated public,” he said, adding that they are ascertaining the identity of the militant who is believed to be a non-local.
