Srinagar: A day after the killing of a cop inside the premises of Charar-e-Sharif Shrine in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, a special police team have arrested the man whose private vehicle was allegedly used by suspected militants to carry out the attack.
A cop Kultar Singh of Samba district was killed when suspected militants fired upon him when he was on guard duty inside the Charar-e-Sharif Shrine on Sunday.
Well placed sources said that a special police party shortly after the incident seized the private vehicle allegedly used to carry the suspected militants near Charar-e-Sharif shrine. Sources added that police party from Srinagar raided the house of the owner of the said vehicle at Kawosi Bagh village at Kakapora Pulwama.
A top police official wishing not to be named said the owner of vehicle whom he identified as Imran Ahmed Mir has been arrested and he is being questioned in this regard.
“We are expecting something positive as probe is going on in the right direction,” he added.
Meanwhile, following the killing of another cop at Soura, Government Forces picked up a youth during a cordon and search operation in Chattabal area. Reports said that the youth was picked up from Goriwan Ganjipora area of Srinagar city.
